Your hosts, April and Tim (and Ivy), moved from the Chicago suburbs to Imlay City December of 2022. We are both entertainers, but in completely different ways. Tim is an actor, director, author, and teacher. On his very first tour of the house, he knew that the pole barn out back would be his new rehearsal and show-preview space. He loves sharing his one-man Shakespeare events with neighbors and friends before taking them on the road. (We also use the space for parties and even the occasional karaoke!). April loves to cook, host parties & events, loves decorating and is an avid HGTV and Food Network fan. She thought the ultimate in hosting/entertaining would be to open a bed and breakfast.

They both fell in love with this old house and the warmth of this community.

The Charles Palmer House, built in 1890 by Charles Palmer the founder of Imlay City, is on the National Historic Register. A charming Victorian home in Queen Anne style has an interior with rich wood panels, doors, and moldings. You enter, passing leaded glass and stained-glass windows, into the “North Parlor” with a plaster molded ceiling. You may note the delightful evening rainbow effect through the windows refracting the setting sun.

Most of the original wood flooring (laid in multiple styles of the era) have been preserved and are in the process of being rejuvenated. The intricate design of the dining room’s beautiful inlaid floor can’t help but capture your eye.


The stunning central staircase has original wood panels and a carved wooden banister. A beautiful stained-glass window graces the stairwell capturing the morning sun from the east.

The house is a testament not only to the style of the era but to the craftsmanship.

Built in 1890 by Charles Palmer who had previously purchased 240 acres of Michigan land, plotting it and developing it. This house is 240 N. Main to commemorate the original purchase.
